Babar & Sarfaraz Eye Big Milestones During Australia Tour

The upcoming Australian Test tour has significance for many Pakistani players approaching major milestones. Saud Shakeel, the rising left-arm middle-order batsman, still in touching distance of 1000 Test runs, needs 125 more runs to match Vinod Kambli’s record of reaching this milestone in 14 innings and its promising beginning indicates that this milestone is being reached.

Former Pakistan batting captain and lynchpin Babar Azam aims to cross the 4000-run mark in Test cricket at a distance of just 228 runs. Besides, he was included in the Pakistan elite by as few as 14 players, joining the likes of Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, and Inzamam-ul-Haq in the 13,000-run group at international level cricket and his recent relief from the captain could boost his role in this series.

Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali is aiming for a prestigious 50-wicket mark in Tests, a feat that requires just three more scalps. His contribution to the ball has been significant, and this milestone will further cement his place in Pakistan’s left-arm batting line-up.

Experienced wicket-keeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed is aiming to equal Kamran Akmal’s record of most centuries as Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman in Test cricket. His recent stellar form in domestic cricket suggests he can achieve this milestone, which strengthened Pakistan’s middle order in the series.

With these points at stake, the Test series against Australia promises not only to draw cricket but also the potential for Pakistani players to write their names in cricketing history.
