Cricket Australia announces PM’s XI to face Pakistan

The opening Test match will be played at the Perth Stadium on December 14 and will be Pakistan’s first Test match there.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese & Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel have announced the men’s squad for the Prime Minister’s XI clash against Pakistan in Canberra.

South Australian batsman Nathan McSweeney will lead a formidable squad that includes five players with Test-level experience.

The team included impressive performances from Cameron Bancroft, Beau Webster, and McSweeney who are now the leading runners in the Marsh Sheffield Shield

Queensland pacers Mark Steketee and Michael Nesser proved their mettle last season by collecting 78 wickets.

Additionally, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Todd Murphy, Jimmy Pearson and Matthew Renshaw, who all featured in the Australian Test squad during the recent Ashes campaign in England, bring plenty of experience to the squad

Thilan Samaraweera, who has previous experience working with Australia A and Australian under-20 men’s road teams, has been appointed head coach of the team. During the games, the sporting team will be supported by top local ACT cricketers Eric Bell and Lachlan Simpson.

The four-day series against Pakistan begins on Wednesday, December 6 at Manuka Oval.
